The StorageWorks TM AIT 35GB AutoLoader by Compaq has a built-in AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape) drive. The unit can be connected to and used with a server and can hold up to 8 AIT 35GB tapes for a total of 280 GB native or 560 GB at 2:1 compression. A browser can be used to configure individual settings. It can also be used to view the AutoLoader and maintenance information. The unit can be ordered in a tabletop or 1U rack mount. Up to 3 can be connected on the same LVD bus. Disaster recovery is supported with Disaster Recovery Tape (DRTape) allowing startup from tape (Computer Associates and VERITAS support only).
